What People Are Saying…
Jo took on tutoring for my daughter in year 2 of primary. She was behind with her reading, and had not passed her phonics test from year 1. Consequently, she had begun to express feelings of low self esteem in her academic abilities. Between yr2 to yr6, Jo built up my daughter's confidence, by tailoring lessons to suit her. She recognised that she loved creative writing & story telling, and used this to help her with all aspects of English that she struggled with. My daughter felt validated & understood, and left primary school with confidence to move on to secondary education. She is now thriving.

I reached out to Jo when my son was showing signs of slipping a little with his reading, writing and general English work at school. Jo immediately put me at ease and said that she could help him build his skills but also bring an element of fun into a subject that he was not enjoying. After the very first session, my son came home with a smile on his face and he felt like he'd just spent an hour playing games. The lessons were something he looked forward to each week and Jo always ensured the topics, books and homework were relevant to what was happening in his life and his interests. I feel my son's confidence has grown both with his reading but also his composition of sentences. Thank you so much for your help, we will definitely be continuing with Jo's lessons and would recommend her to anyone thinking about tutoring.

Highly recommend this fabulous tutor to anyone looking to raise their child’s confidence and enjoyment of English - our daughter made leaps of progress in the two years Jo tutored her and still speaks fondly of those lessons now, years later. A great, great teacher, the lessons were completely tailored to our daughter’s needs and gave her a massive confidence boost.

Jo taught my son English for many years. He was very reluctant in school but thrived under Jo and having 1-2-1 tuition. Jo really made my son feel very at ease and he actually looked forward to the tutoring every week. Jo made sure the lessons each week were different and used subjects that engaged my son, and he genuinely enjoyed his time, and we were very sad when the tutoring ended at the end of year 6! You really can't go wrong with Jo!

Jo tutored my son in Years 3 and 4. Her lessons were always tailored specifically, not only to his needs but also to his interests. Where he was reluctant to engage in learning at school, he was always excited to go for his lessons with Jo. If you are looking for a tutor who will go above and beyond to not only teach, but also to encourage, build confidence, have fun and instill a love of learning, you won’t go wrong in engaging Jo.

Jo is amazing. She uses the child's interests to keep their attention whilst teaching so they almost don't know they are learning. She supported my dyslexic son at a critical time in his education & I really believe he would not be doing as well as he is without her. He always wanted to go to Jo's tutoring no matter what else was going on. She keeps the parent totally in the loop too so I could reinforce the learning at home. I can't speak highly enough of her.
